Clinical Coordinator, Nursing (Tenure Track)
 
Overview:
 
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for a full-time, Nursing Clinical Coordinator to begin immediately at our Clifton Campus location. Qualified candidates will be responsible for coordinating course schedules, student clinical placements and adjunct faculty assignments at all levels in the associate degree program.
 
Responsibilities will include inputting requests for clinical placements in a centralized clinical placement system, insuring that classes and clinical are correctly scheduled in college information systems, managing health records, CPR and background check requirements at clinical facilities, and serving as the liaison to clinical affiliates including ensuring affiliation contracts are present and up to date. The coordinator will be responsible for the placement of students in clinical groups and ensure student evaluations are placed in student files each semester.
 
The coordinator is responsible for assisting with student advising relative to academic success in the nursing program clinical experiences, collaborating with the nursing program chair and faculty, members of the Health and Public Safety Division, and supporting the needs of the community through activities of the Nursing Program, Division, and College. The Coordinator will provide oversight of clinical placements at a variety of clinical sites around Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
 
Essential Duties:
  • Schedule classes and clinicals in the college computer system and Centralized Clinical Placement System including role transition placements.
  • Schedule clinical observation assignments
  • Place students at all levels of the program into clinical assignments including role transition placement
  • Coordinate clinical site computer training, parking assignments and badging in collaboration with students and faculty.
  • Liaison with clinical affiliates to enhance relationships and ensure adequate clinical placements as well as program compliance with affiliation agreements.
  • Assist with ensuring all student health records, CPR and background checks are complete and up to date.
  • Provide health records, background checks and student information to clinical sites as required.
  • Maintain master schedule of full-time and adjunct workload to facilitate scheduling in collaboration with the program chair and director.
  • Ensure student success through academic advising related to clinical assignments and referral to College resources (tutoring, etc.).
  • Address student issues in a timely manner, including communicating issues/concerns through the appropriate chain of command as identified in the faculty handbook.
  • Maintain master waitlist for each clinical nursing course.
  • Assist the Nursing program Director, Program Chair and Course Leader to effectively onboard new adjunct instructors.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
  • Participate in professional development activities and college service days as required for licensure and the AAUP contract.
  • Participate in peer mentoring program and demonstrate continuous progress towards timely completion of all required activities and documentation for the tenure application process.
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the program’s quality by participating in professional development activities, utilizing feedback from the peer mentor, and employing continuous assessment of clinical sites, instructors and experiences.
  • Actively participate in College and Divisional activities, meetings, and committees.
  • Assist with the accreditation process through active participation on one of three nursing committees.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Ensure that all clinical instructors and preceptors scheduled to teach meet the qualifications required by Ohio Law.
  • Perform in role of nursing instructor at the request/with the approval of the Dean.
  • Visit hospital liaisons and clinical adjunct instructors at affiliate locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Five (5) years of nursing experience in an acute care, medical surgical setting.
  • Unencumbered Ohio nursing license.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation to clinical sites for visits.
  • Evening hours availability required: occasional weekend hours as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience in nursing education.
  • Certified Nurse Educator credential.
  • Doctorate in Nursing or Education.
  • Acute-care Administrator experience.
  • Experience with Clinical Placement System

  • Knowledge of Ohio Board of Nursing law and rules, and accreditation standards.
