Senior Engineering Geologist and Project Manager

Kleinfelder is growing in San Diego! We are seeking a Senior Engineering Geologist with 12+ years of experience related to engineering geology, soil logging and testing, landslide investigation, and fault identification and investigation. The role will be hybrid with a mix of remote, in-office, and field work in and around the greater San Diego area.
Ideal candidates will possess strong communication and writing skills and technical background in engineering/geologic projects. Experience in the following areas is also desired:
- Planning, implementing, and managing geotechnical and geologic exploration programs
- Leading fault studies including fault trenching, geophysical studies, boring and CPT studies, and faulting interpretation
- Guiding staff geologists and/or engineers in performing material and site characterization, faulting analysis, landslide evaluation, etc.
- Managing all aspects of projects, including safety, quality, schedule and budget, and client interface and communications
- Preparing technical reports and geologic analyses
- Coordinating and providing quality control for data collection and review of project results
- Preparing and making technical presentations to clients and technical review boards
- Supervising field observation, testing, and performing site visits
- Active participation in and leading business development activities
- Proactively troubleshooting and problem-solving with practical, client-focused solutions
- Leading teams and professionally develop staff at all levels
- Organizing priorities and effectively multi-tasking
Requirements
- BS degree in geology; MS degree preferred
- Registered Professional Geologist (PG) and Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) in California
- 12+ years of related experience in consulting engineering firms or related service business and knowledge of applicable laws and regulations required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Minimum of 12 years of soil logging experience
- Extensive experience in fault studies, faulting interpretation, and landslide mapping and evaluation
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team, manage project deliverables, schedules, and budgets, and mentor junior staff
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Physical ability to be in the field, carry equipment, and perform testing and sampling for multiple hours or multiple days in a row
- Ability to commute to the office, external client meetings, and project sites within and in the vicinity of San Diego
- Working experience with Microsoft suite
Preferred experience:
- Experience with ArcGIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or GeoStudio (SEEP/W, SLOPE/W) software a plus

The expected salary range for the position is displayed in accordance with the California Pay Transparency Law. Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience. Salary range: 99,000-165,000
