This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Hillcrest and remote.

Under direct supervision of the HNRP-CMCR Business Manager, incumbent will work as a Fund Manager responsible for fiscal management and administration of sponsored project research awards totaling approximately 6 million at the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program (HNRP) - Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR) in the Department of Psychiatry. Duties include, but are not limited to, comprehensive pre- and post-award administration of federal, state and private agency contracts and grants, and consortium agreements.
The incumbent will work with project directors to develop budgets and calculate overhead costs, ensuring that budgets are accurate and well justified and that NIH biographical sketches and other supporting documentation are complete for competing and noncompeting applications. The incumbent must have awareness and understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality for HIV-infected and cannabis research participants. Assist with other project and miscellaneous duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSSix years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in related area plus two years of related experience/training.
Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
Ability to perform moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization; communication skills; and a customer service focus. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration. Knowledge of grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Proven understanding of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.
Proven understanding of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Proven ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities and the judgment and flexibility to reprioritize to accommodate emergency requests. Detail oriented.
Proven ability to perform routine financial analysis and reporting.
Demonstrated experience working with computer and information management systems.
Demonstrated organization and communication skills and customer service focus.
Proven ability to process research proposals, awards and transactions related to contract and grant management and to maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies.
Demonstrated skill in providing comprehensive financial management of extramural funds, including awards with domestic and/or foreign consortium agreements.
Proven ability to prepare cost transfer and journals based on UC policies and timelines.
Proven ability to coordinate and administer sponsored project research awards at the HIV Neurobehavioral Research Program.
Demonstrated experience in effectively using financial management tools including Excel, Filemaker Pro, FinancialLink, EmployeeLink, Blink systems, and Oracle for administration of awards.
Demonstrated experience independently analyzes expenses, develops cost projections, and oversees financial tracking and control.
Proven ability to analyze and verify appropriateness of charges, corrects any discrepancies, and advises support staff of any errors or problems.
Demonstrated experience to prepare complex budgets for grant proposals, and coordinate with Principal Investigators and Contracts and Grants regarding agency requirements, regulations and special requests.
Writing skills to draft persuasive text for variety of audiences.
Employment is subject to a criminal background check.
Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet agency deadlines, as needed.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $72,809 - $106,050 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $34.87 - $50.79
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
