This position will provide patient care coverage for our Primary Care Clinics based in various CommUnity Care locations to include Rancho Bernardo, Encinitas, Carmel Valley, Eastlake, Bankers Hill and Vista.
This is a full-time float position with approximately 80% Clinical and 20% Administrative duties. The primary function will be coverage of core clinicians' inbaskets and patient care schedules. Work location may change with short notice based on clinic needs.
The Float Nurse Practitioner (NP) will function as extension of patient care for UCSD Primary Care providing care to patients with common health problems, such as colds and cough, sore throats, ear infections, UTI, superficial lacerations and simple sprains and strains. The NP will also assist with improving access to Primary Care patients with chronic or acute needs, the provider will also assist with duties such as, but not limited to annual wellness exams, post-hospital follow ups, and population health initiatives as needed.
The NP will follow standardized advanced practice procedure guidelines to provide follow through with the care plan. Assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMust be a graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.
National NP board certification in aligned specialty with the practice area (FNP, AGPCNP, or ANP).
BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.
Minimum two (2) years of work experience as a licensed Nurse Practitioner in primary care, family medicine, or urgent care.
Ability to manage own patient load.
Must be able to work within a team environment.
Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to adapt to different clinic environments and various patient demographics.
2+ years of experience working with pediatric, adult, or geriatric patients.
Experience in managing a broad range of chronic and acute conditions in a diverse patient population.
Urgent and primary care procedural experience (e.g., suturing, stapling, I&D, EKG, and Basic Radiology interpretation).
Ambulatory Primary Care experience.
Telemedicine or video visit experience.
Familiarity with Epic EHR.
- Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
- Must be able to travel to various clinic locations across San Diego County.
- Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment. Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years gained through school or work experience.
Current UCSD NPIII employees may be hired at the NPIII level pending review and approval by Health Human Resources and the UCSD Advanced Practice Council.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $158,187 - $221,370 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $75.76 - $106.02
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
