JOB SUMMARY:
The Marketing and Promotions Coordinator for KTSU 90.9FM is responsible for enhancing brand awareness, driving listener engagement, and increasing the station’s presence within the community. This position focuses on developing and implementing marketing and promotional strategies that align with KTSU’s mission, emphasizing increased listenership, event attendance, and digital engagement across all channels. The ideal candidate is experienced in marketing, community outreach, and event planning, with a strong commitment to public radio.

Essential Duties Summary

Media: Marketing Strategy and Implementation:
  • Develop and execute multi-channel marketing strategies that increase brand awareness, engagement, and membership.
  • Create and manage promotional campaigns for radio programs, events, and community initiatives, ensuring consistency in branding and messaging.
  • Oversee the creation of promotional materials, including social media graphics, email newsletters, press releases, website content, and printed materials.
Promotions and Community Engagement:
  • Plan and coordinate both on-site and virtual promotions to connect with the local community and grow the station’s listenership.
  • Foster and maintain partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and educational institutions to expand KTSU’s outreach.
  • Organize and manage station events, including live broadcasts and community outreach programs, from planning through to post-event analysis.
Digital Marketing and Social
  • Manage KTSU’s social media platforms by creating engaging content, monitoring audience interaction, and expanding the station’s online presence.
  • Coordinate digital advertising campaigns, evaluate performance metrics, and adjust strategies to maximize digital engagement and conversions.
  • Collaborate with the digital team to keep the KTSU website updated with relevant news, programming, and event information.
Audience Engagement and Membership:
  • Collaborate with the Membership Coordinator to develop strategies for membership growth and retention, aligning efforts with initiatives such as “ELEVATE with KTSU.”
  • Use listener data, survey responses, and community feedback to tailor campaigns to KTSU’s target audiences.
  • Support public radio membership benefits and fundraising drives through targeted advertising and community partnerships.
Branding and Market Analysis:
  • Ensure that all promotional activities reflect KTSU’s brand identity and adhere to messaging guidelines.
  • Conduct market research to remain informed on audience trends, demographics, and competitive stations, making recommendations to optimize strategies.
  • Track and report on campaign performance metrics, preparing monthly and quarterly updates for management review.
Sponsorships and Partnerships:
  • Identify, cultivate, and manage sponsorship and advertising relationships to support station programming and special events.
  • Develop sponsorship packages, coordinate deliverables, and ensure fulfillment of sponsor agreements.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to create sponsorship and partnership opportunities that align with KTSU’s values and community mission.

Hiring Range $55,038.89 - $70,174.59

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Public radio, audience engagement practices, and community-focused marketing.
  • CRM and analytics tools for tracking marketing metrics.
Skill in:
  • Developing and executing marketing campaigns effectively.
  • Building strong community and sponsor relationships.
Ability to:
  • Analyze audience data and incorporate feedback.
  • Organize and manage multiple projects, events, and campaigns.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and adapt to evolving situations.

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing, promotions, or public relations, preferably within radio, media, or a similar industry.
  • Experience in digital marketing, including social media management, email marketing, and content creation preferred.
  • Familiarity with graphic design software (Adobe Suite) and website management tools (WordPress) preferred.
