Research Facilities and Infrastructure Program Director (hybrid/remote eligible)

Job Description

Notre Dame researchers’ highest aim is to do good in the world… to heal, unify and enlighten. Our researchers innovate on the bench, at the policy table, and in the field, in areas that include drug discovery, environmental change, global health, and more. They have an ever greater impact in ever-increasing numbers. To date, the University of Notre Dame has annual research expenditures exceeding $300M and growing.

The Notre Dame Research Facilities and Infrastructure (NDRFI) team supports and enables our researchers to function in operational environments that fundamentally, and positively impact their research! Our mission drives us to establish, operate, and manage the research operations, facilities, and resources that advance the University’s research priorities. We work according to core principles that include:
  • Believing that the availability and quality of NDR research operations, facilities, infrastructure, and technologies fundamentally impact research.
  • Being recognized as research resource management experts, leveraging our expertise across the University.
  • Tailoring NDRFI’s organizational structure and staffing to the University’s research enterprise requirements.
  • Performing research resource management for the University according to an established structure for service delivery.

In furthering our mission, NDRFI, within the office of the VPR, is hiring a purpose-driven Research Facilities and Infrastructure Program Director (RFIPD) focused on achieving the University’s research goals through active faculty engagement and dedicated program management. In this new role, reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Research (AVPR), the RFIPD works closely with research deans and faculty, colleagues within Notre Dame Research, and administrative professionals across the University. The RFIPD advances key priorities in the University’s research endeavors, managing and leveraging the University’s research operations, facilities, and other resources for the research enterprise.

This is where you make a difference! Can you help our researchers accomplish their greatest ambitions? Does embodying NDRFI’s mission give you meaning? Do you get energy from making more possible? If yes, we want you to join us.
You are qualified for the RFIPD position if:

  • You’re a proven, enthusiastic leader and collaborator with diverse groups of stakeholders;
  • You strategically manage widely varying interests and needs;

  • You possess:
    • Strengths in creative analysis, strategy, and problem-solving.
    • Results-driven motivation.
    • Individual initiative and strong teamwork.
  • You earn credibility and respect with ease.

As RFIPD, you will be an active thought partner with the AVPR, structuring and driving initiatives to successful completion. The RFIPD routinely serves as the AVPR’s representative on various committees and initiatives, advises on strategically advancing research resources, communicates with internal and external constituents, and manages strategic relationships. For select areas of responsibility, the RFIPD serves as the first point of contact and organizes agendas and meetings.

We’re recruiting an exceptional professional problem solver to play this significant role.
