Position Summary

Join our team as a Part-time Security Officer and help create a safe and welcoming environment for our community!

Working Hours: Friday and Saturday from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM.

As a Security Officer, you will play a vital role in safeguarding our premises and ensuring the safety of everyone on-site. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular patrols to maintain a secure environment.
  • Monitoring surveillance equipment to detect and prevent incidents.
  • Performing thorough building inspections to address safety concerns.

This position operates under the guidance of the Security/Emergency Manager, providing an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive setting.

Essential Functions

1. Performs regular patrols of college property to secure and monitor buildings and grounds.

2. Performs routine opening and closing of buildings.

3. Opens facilities for special functions, and provides security as needed.

4. Responds to emergencies, administers first aid, investigates incidents and completes detailed reports on activities.

5. Remains vigilant for criminal activity and coordinates with the Ogden Police department regarding criminal matters.

6. Conducts periodic checks of college buildings and equipment.

7. Interacts with campus visitors and staff to provide assistance as needed.

8. Monitors surveillance cameras and access controls.9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent; a valid Utah driver license; a favorable background check; and be eligible to obtain a Utah security license.

2. Previous experience in security, law enforcement, military, or related field is preferred but not required.

3. Firearms training and proficiency is a plus.

4. Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable.

Note: Ogden Weber Technical College will provide all training, licensing, and uniform.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Climbing: Includes ladders, scaffolding, ramps, poles, etc.
  • Stooping: Bending downward and forward at the waist. Requires full use of lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: Resting on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending downward and forward at the leg and spine. Reaching: Extending hand (s) and arm (s) in any direction.
  • Standing: For extended time periods. Walking: Especially for long distances.
  • Pushing: Using upper body to press against something with steady force.
  • Pulling: Using upper body to draw, drag, haul, or tug objects.
  • Lifting: Occurs frequently and requires substantial use of upper body and back muscles.
  • Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
  • Grasping: Using fingers and palm on an object.
  • Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
  • Repetitive Motions: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
  • Physical Strength: Medium Work; exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 10 lbs. constantly.
